History of Latin America

Latin America has a rich and complex history that spans thousands of years. The region was originally inhabited by indigenous peoples, such as the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas, who built thriving civilizations long before the arrival of European explorers. Christopher Columbus was one of the first Europeans to reach the Americas in 1492, leading to the colonization and subsequent conquest of many Latin American territories by the Spanish and Portuguese empires.
