What is a Birth Chart?

A birth chart, also known as a natal chart, is a map of the sky at the exact moment and location of a person's birth. It is a snapshot of the positions of the planets, sun, moon, and other celestial bodies at that specific time. Birth charts are used in astrology to provide insight into an individual's personality, strengths, weaknesses, and potential future events.

How is a Birth Chart Calculated?

To calculate a birth chart, an astrologer needs the individual's date, time, and place of birth. The astrologer uses this information to determine the positions of the planets and other celestial bodies in the sky at the exact moment of the person's birth.

Once the astrologer has this data, they can create a visual representation of the birth chart, typically in a circular format. The chart is divided into twelve sections, known as houses, each representing different areas of life such as career, relationships, and health.

The planets are placed within these houses based on their positions during the individual's birth. The interactions between the planets and their placements in the houses help astrologers interpret and analyze the individual's personality traits, strengths, challenges, and potential life events.
