Dubai: Iran dismissed as “illegitimate” efforts by the USA to increase the UN Safety Council arms embargo on Tehran, an Iranian International Ministry spokesman stated on Monday.

“Iran is just not in search of to exit the 2015 nuclear take care of six powers … America’s transfer is illegitimate and our response will probably be proportionate,” Abbas Mousavi stated in a televised weekly information convention.

America stated on Thursday it was “hopeful” the UN Safety Council would prolong the arms embargo on Iran earlier than it expires in October.

President Donald Trump’s administration has been taking a tougher line with the United Nations over its want to increase and strengthen the embargo on Iran.

Washington has threatened to set off a return of all UN sanctions on Iran as leverage to get backing from the 15-member Safety Council on extending the UN arms embargo on Tehran.

“America is just not a member of the nuclear deal anymore … Iran’s response to America’s unlawful measures will probably be agency,” Mousavi stated.

Trump withdrew the USA from the Iran nuclear deal in 2018 and reimposed sanctions on Tehran which have crippled its financial system.

Below the deal, Iran agreed to halt its delicate nuclear work in trade for sanctions reduction.

Iran, which denies its nuclear program is aimed toward constructing a bomb, has step by step rolled again its commitments below the accord since the USA stop. It argues that Washington’s actions justify such a course.
